At this weeks Apple event, the company unveiled a host of the new devices, one of which was the much anticipated third generation iPhone SE. Apple launched the first iPhone SE back in 2016, the device took the body from an iPhone 5s and the guts from an iPhone 6s. Apple then did the same thing two years ago in 2020 with the second generation, it took the body from an iPhone 8 and guts from the iPhone 11.

Apple has now updated the iPhone SE for 2022, with the iPhone 8 body as the last version, but the chip from the latest iPhone 13 series. Apple has also now added support for 5G and water and dust resistance too. Apple has also borrowed the same glass from the iPhone 13, which is toughened thanks to the ‘Ceramic Shield’.

Apple has increased the base price slightly here, the old one was £399, now £419 ($399 and $419) but the fact you now get the latest A15 chip and 5G, it isn’t surprising.

Apple has also updated the colours to stay in line with the latest iPad and iPhone models, now available in Starlight, Midnight and Product Red.

Apple is opening up pre-orders this Friday at 5am PT / 1pm UK and will then be available later on for shipping on 18th March.
