Apple says that 80% of iOS devices that can, are now using iOS 12

Since iOS 12 was launched last September, the initial pickup was generally quick, especially compared to the previous year with iOS 11. This was mainly down to the focus on basic improvements for performance and stability, whereas iOS 10 and iOS 11 were much more buggy, in comparison.

iOS 12

Now, this week Apple has now published new numbers, mainly aimed at its developers detailing the current adoption rate for devices running iOS 12.

Current devices which are able to use iOS 12 are

  • iPhone 5s or later
  • iPad mini 2 or later
  • iPad Air or later
  • iPad Pro 9.7-inch or later
  • iPod Touch 6th generation

80%

In the report, Apple has outlined that out of all the devices listed above, 80% of them are now running iOS 12, the latest version of the OS. Just 12% are using iOS 11 and 8% are on iOS 10 or earlier.

That’s a lot of devices that are able to run it currently and now 80% of those devices which can run iOS 12, are now running it.

Also, iOS 12 is now powering 83% of the iOS devices which were introduced in the last four years and devices running iOS 11 has dropped to twelve percent.

Phil Schiller, head of Apple’s marketing tweeted the news out today too.
