Apple warns iPhone 5 users to update to iOS 10.3.4

Apple warns iPhone 5 users to update to iOS 10.3.4

Back in July this year, Apple released a patch for iOS 9 and iOS 10 to fix a GPS bug which has been lingering for a while, iOS 9.3.6 was released for iPad mini (1st gen), iPad 2 and iPad 3. iOS 10.3.4 was release for the iPhone 5 and the iPad 4 (cellular model)

The bug was designed to fix an issue where the device would show the wrong date and time, which would in turn cause some issues with GPS.

iPhone 5

It has been a while since that update was released and if you happen to be still using an iPhone 5 in 2019 – Apple is now warning users that they do indeed need to update to iOS 10.3.4 before November 3rd 2019. If you don’t update before then, the phone won’t be able to access the App Store, iCloud, email and other services.

It’s always a good idea to keep the operating system on your iPhone updated. If you have an iPhone 5, it’s especially important to update your device’s software wirelessly or using your computer before November 3 to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use functions that rely on correct date and time including App Store, iCloud, email, and web browsing.

If the update to iPhone 5 is not completed by November 3, 2019, you will be required to back up and restore using a Mac or PC in order to update because over-the-air software updates and iCloud Backup will not work.
