BMW 2 Series Active Tourer now on sale in the UK

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer now on sale in the UK

BMW has put the new second generation 2 Series Active Tourer on sale in the UK this week, with prices starting at £30,265. Three engine options are on offer, with a three-cylinder petrol 220i mild hybrid which has 168bhp and a four-cylinder 223i mild hybrid with 215bhp. BMW is also offering a diesel, with the 218d which has 148bhp.

The Tourer model is related to the existing 2 Series Coupe, but only the name and the look, everything else is shared with the Mini Countryman, BMW X1 and the 2 Series Gran Coupe. All cars share the same architecture.

Between the first generation and second generation, BMW has made the grille larger, as it always does on new cars. The increases size, makes way for additional sensors for the driver assistance systems. Styling wise, there is a new headlight design and smaller rear lights.

Inside is where BMW has made the most changes, there is a new large 10.25-inch drivers display and then a second 10.7-inch display for the touchscreen infotainment. The system runs the latest iDrive software, which is now in its eighth generation, with the touchscreen replacing the function of many of the physical buttons.

BMW has also added the ability for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as over the air software updates.
