Cortana, in Windows 10 just can’t search Google

Cortana, in Windows 10 just can’t search Google

I’ve been using Windows 10 for quite a few months now, actually since January when it officially first came out on the Insider Program. Since then it has had it’s up and downs for random restarts and bugs but despite most things it has been good. Now some more bad news about Windows 10, the way Cortana has been designed Microsoft doesn’t want you using Google for voice searches, instead it prefers if you use the in house developed Bing.

Now, the GM of search and Cortana at Microsoft, Ryan Gavin has come out and said:

“The continuity of these types of task completion scenarios is disrupted if Cortana can’t depend on Bing as the search provider and Microsoft Edge as the browser.”

This basically meaning that Microsoft doesn’t recommend using anything other than Bing for Cortana searches, although Google can be used as the default search engine on Google Chrome if you have it installed on your PC, it’s only that Microsoft Edge and Cortana can only use Bing.
