On amazon.co.uk this week, Amazon is offering the 2nd generation Protect smoke alarm for £99.99, which is down by just £10 from the usual £110. The Nest Protect probably isn’t as popular as the flagship Learning Thermostat, which arguably made the company as well known as it is now but it is a very capable device, with self testing once a month, no middle of the night battery chirps and pathlight feature for night time illumination.
