Disney is cracking down on Disney+ password sharing

Following in the footsteps of Netflix, Disney is also going to start implementing changes that will affect the way people use and share their accounts. Yesterday, during the Disney earnings calls, Disney CEO Bob Iger said he wants to end password sharing to make sure Disney+ can become and growth business.

Iger said that the change will start next month, but the company has been talking about doing this September 2023 but the timeframe for when it would take place has been moved quite a few times. Disney started out with a small number of countries in June and it'll now expand elsewhere starting September 2024.

Disney will also do exactly what Netflix has done in regard to additional users, with an extra fee to allow the lan to be shared with someone outside of the household.

Netflix has seen incredible success by implementing this, despite the backlash from customers early on. In regard to Disney+ customers not being able to share passwords, Iger said that the company has had "no backlash at all."
