Starlink in the UK has recently replaced the free Pause Mode, which allowed customers to literally pause the plan, stop paying and then activate the service again when travelling or when needed as a backup. However in the last few days the company has replaced this with Standby Mode, which costs £4.50 per month.
Pause Mode meant you could stop paying for the service, without full cancelling and then having to restart the plan again. However, there isn't anything stopping you from now simply canceling, this is even outlined on the company's FAQ page: “If pausing with Standby Mode does not meet your needs, you are able to cancel at no cost and restart service on an available plan whenever you’re ready.”

The new Standby Mode costs £4.50 per month in the UK, offers unlimited data at much slower speeds. This is limited to around 500kbps up and down and this would be useful as a backup when camping if you need to make a VoIP phone call or check something online. It also means it can be easily upgraded to the faster plans if you are in an area without any other internet connection. As with Standby Mode and fully cancelling this wouldn't be possible.
