First Range Rover manufactured at Solihull under new social distancing rules

On Wednesday this week, Jaguar Land Rover manufactured the first new Range Rover at its plant in Solihull while under the new social distancing rules. This is the first vehicle to come out of the plant since it shut down for the lockdown on the 24th March. Health checks within the plant at Solihull include thermal camera, two metre distance rules as well as one way systems and PPE.

Other car factories in the UK have opened up recently, including McLaren in Woking last week as well as Morgan Cars in the Malvern Hills, Vauxhall in Luton and Ford with its engine plants.

“Seeing the first Range Rover come off our line today is a defining moment for Jaguar Land Rover, for all of us who work for the company and the many businesses in our supply chain.”

Grant McPherson – JLR Executive Director, Manufacturing

Jaguar Land Rover factories in Europe have also started production this week, JLR has one is Graz, Austria and one in Nitra, Slovakia.
