Ford could launch a smaller Maverick based EV

Ford could launch a smaller Maverick based EV

Ford announced the new entry level truck, the Maverick last week which is the company’s new smaller pickup, sitting on the same platform as the Bronco Sport and in size, sitting below the the Ranger. The company is looking to expand its rollout of electric vehicles and is aiming to have 40% all electric sales by 2030 in the US.

However, while Ford is expanding into all electric pickup trucks with the new F-150 Lightning it announced in May, its new Maverick is only available as a hybrid model at the moment. However, Mike Levine, North American Product Communications Manager at Ford might have hinted at an all electric model of the Maverick could be coming.

The new F-150 Lightning comes in at around $40,000 with 563bhp and 775lb ft driving all four wheels and a range of between 230 and 300 miles. It’ll go on sale in spring 2022 in the US only.

However, for a potential upcoming smaller electric truck from Ford, nothing is confirmed but the Explorer SUV is going to have one, as confirmed by Levine.
