Ford introduces new face-lifted Fiesta for 2022

Ford introduces new face-lifted Fiesta for 2022

Ford has recently announced a new updated version of the ever popular Fiesta hatchback. Ford has given it a mid-life facelift to help keep it relevant in the market. The new Fiesta won’t go on sale here in the UK until early in 2022 and it will retail for slightly more than the outgoing model, starting at £16,670.

Most of the main changes are around the front end, the headlights are now slimmer and come standard with LED, the grille has been redesigned as well as the bonnet which has been given a slightly higher profile and the Ford logo has been moved from the bonnet to the grille – Ford said this gives the Fiesta better road presence, it also fits in line with other new Ford models.

Ford will be giving each variant a custom look, like it did with the last generation. The entry level Trend and Titanium models will have chrome accents on the grille and around the window, but the hot hatch ST version will go with a deeper set grille and black accents and a black honeycomb affect grille. The Fiesta Active model will continue to be offered, with a taller ride height and more rugged design.

Ford is also offering some brand new alloy wheels with the facelift, seven new designs make a debut as well as some new colours, Boundless Blue, Beautiful Berry and Mean Green. The latter made its debut on the Puma ST and will only be available on the Fiesta ST.

In terms of engines, Ford is now offering some mild hybridisation for the Fiesta, the 1.0-litre three cylinder can be specced with either 123bhp or 153bhp and a six speed manual gearbox, a seven speed auto can also be chosen.

Inside, Ford has done some work to modernise the already up to date cabin, all Fiestas now come with a 12.3-inch drivers displays with various view modes and this is where a lot of the safety information lives, such as wrong way alert, active park assist, cross traffic alert, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.

As before, there is a central infotainment screen at 8-inch and it will be able to show Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and more. Some models can be specced with FordPass too, allowing customers to remotely unlock and lock the car as well as look at how much fuel is left and tyre pressures.

The new updated Fiesta will go on sale in the UK starting in early 2022, with prices starting at £16,670.
