Google announces new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

Google announces new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

Google has today announced the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the company’s new flagship smartphone lineup for 2021. Even after being announced not that long ago, both phones are getting some positive feedback online and in the initial reviews, with the pain praise being towards the relatively affordable price tag and other new camera features.

The Pixel 6 is priced at $599 and the Pixel 6 Pro is $899 and both of them come equipped with the first custom SoC that is Google designed, the Google Tensor chip. This is the start of Google producing their own chips, like Apple has been doing since 2010 with the A4 chip, for the iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

The Pixel 6 is $599 and has a 6.4-inch OLED display, with a 90Hz refresh rate. There are two rear cameras, the main is 50MP, which is much larger this time, allowing up to 150% more light and an a supplemental 12MP ultra wide lens.

The Pixel 6 Pro has a larger 6.7-inch OLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate. The rear camera is also the same as the Pixel 6, at 50MP and the 12MP ultra wide but the Pro has an additional 48MP telephoto lens.

Both of the phones support 5G with mmWave, where available. The Pixel 6 Pro has 12GB RAM, whereas the standard Pixel 6 has 8GB.

Both phones run Android 12 and are available to pre-order now, both will then launch and be available on 28th October.
