HMV is now the biggest seller of physical music, beating Amazon

It didn’t seem like long ago that HMV, a high-street music store was looking at bankruptcy, two years ago in fact. The British retailer quickly turned things around, by cost-cutting and closing the Oxford Street branch. HMV then focused on selling music, this has definitely worked – now HMV is the UK’s biggest retailer of physical music beating Amazon to the top spot. CityAM has reported that they sold more vinyls last year than in the last 20 years.

To also add to the good news, HMV have announced that all the stores are profitable. 2015 looks to be a big year for movie releases and HMV are hoping that DVD, BluRay and CD sales will help push them further ahead than Amazon.
