iOS 12.0.1 released, fixes iPhone XS charging bug and WiFi issues

iOS 12.0.1 released, fixes iPhone XS charging bug and WiFi issues

Today, Apple has released the first update to iOS 12 since it was released almost a month ago. iOS 12.0.1, which is now out for download fixes a number of bugs and issues that have occurred since the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were launched, some users have reported WiFi issues as well as a number of charging issues.

Charging issues

When the iPhone XS starting shipping out to customers, some reports started picking up shortly after the new phones were released. The main issue was where the phone would not charge via the lighting cable, temporary fixes included disabling the USB protected feature, which did seem to work.

iOS 12.0.1 fixes this issue.

WiFi issues

The new update also fixes a major bug with WiFi, which did affect iPhone XS model as well. If your network has the same single SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, for somer reason the iPhone would choose to pick the 2.4GHz band only, regardless of the RSSI.

Again, iOS 12.0.1 fixes this issue.

Others

Some other random bugs with iOS 12 included the placement of the “.?123” key, which had been moved one space to the right. With iOS 12.0.1 this has now been rectified.

Release Notes

iOS 12.0.1 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone or iPad. This update:
– Fixes an issue where some iPhone XS devices do not immediately charge when connected to a Lightning cable
– Resolves an issue that could cause iPhone XS devices to rejoin a Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHz
– Restores the original position of the “.?123” key on the iPad keyboard
