Apple announces new M3 iPad Air, with sales starting on 12th March

Apple today has revealed a new updated iPad Air, available in either 11-inch or 13-inch screen sizes. Compared to the previous generation, which was revealed in May 2024, the only thing that has changed is the addition of the M3 chip.

The M3 chip should add around a 20% boost in performance when compared to the previous M2 chip. Also, this chip adds support for accelerated ray tracing, which should add to gaming performance.

Aside from the M3 chip, the only other addition is a new Magic Keyboard, which offers a larger trackpad, USB-C passthrough port and improved function keys for controlling brightness and volume, much like Mac.

The iPad Air goes on sale on 12th March, with prices from £599 or $599 for the 11-inch model and from £799 or $799 for the 13-inch model. Colours are unchanged from the last version, so it comes in either Space Gray, Starlight, Blue or Purple.
