Jack Dorsey steps down as Twitter CEO

Today, Jack Dorsey one of the original founders of Twitter has stepped down as the CEO of the company. This change has effectively come into effect as now and the CTO Parag Agrawal, has now replaced Dorsey.

Dorsey founded Twitter around 15 years ago with Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams and hsi reasoning for moving on was:

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders, my trust in Parag as Twitter’s CEO is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformational. I’m deeply grateful for his skill, heart, and soul. It’s his time to lead.”

There have been some pushes for Dorsey to step down, for example he has been the CEO of two companies for the past six years, Twitter and Square and then last year Elliott Management an activist investment firm has been calling for Dorsey to step down, suggesting he didn’t have the focus to run both Twitter and Square.
