Japan will stop making VHS players at the end of this month

The end of an era.

At the end of this month the last company in existence which manufacturers VHS players will come to the end of production. The last company which is actually still making VHS players is Nikkei, a Japanese company which has said the only reason it’s had to come to this decision is that Funai, a company which Nikkei sources most of the components has given up producing them – stating it was too difficult. It wasn’t even that the players weren’t selling in big numbers, just last year 750,000 VHS players were sold worldwide.
