Mac shipments have actually increased in Q1 2022, despite overall market decline

According to a report from Gartner Apple’s worldwide shipments of its Mac product line has increased for the first quarter of 2022, even though the PC market as a whole has been declining. Gartner has estimated that in Q1 2022, Apple has shipped 7 million Macs, up from 6.5 million in Q1 2021.

The reason for this growth could be attributed to the new models Apple has launched lately, with the M1 Mac models, such as the M1 iMac, MacBook Air and Mac mini. In October last year Apple updated the MacBook Pro with the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips and these likely sold well. Just last month, Apple launched a brand new Mac Studio desktop with the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips. These new models have tremendous performance advantages over their Intel counterparts and have likely been a contributing factor for the increases sales.

Apple has been the number four company in PC sales in the world for a little whole now, and in Q1 2022 it came that position again. In number one place was Lenovo with 18.2 million shipments, HP in number two with 15.8 million and Dell in numbers three with 13.7 million. Below Apple were ASUS and Acer with over 5 million shipments each.

It must be said that this data from Gartner is not an accurate reflection of what Apple has actually sold, only Apple knows the real data and has not been releasing breakdown sales figures of products for a number of years.
