Mercedes fits larger battery to eVito electric van, offering 298 miles of range

Mercedes has updated its eVito electric panel van in Germany recently, with much improved range - but weirdly, it won't be coming to the UK. The eVito was originally launched back in 2020 with around 100 miles of range, then updated in 2023 with 160 miles of range and now it has 298 miles of range, thanks to the much larger 90kWh battery pack.

The reasoning to not bring this rangier version to the UK is strange, as the company has cited ‘lack of market demand’ - but when compared to the other vans on sale in the UK, this updated eVito certiainly trumps everything else on offer in the range department. Elsewhere in the market is the Ford E-Transit Custom with 204 miles, the ID.Buzz Cargo with 276 miles and the Toyota Proace Electric with 217 miles.

At the moment, the only version on offer in the UK comes with a 60kWh battery and 160 miles of range. Charging is also faster on this new larger battery, now at 110kW and 10-80% takes 25 minutes.

Prices for the 60kWh eVito start at £58,236 in the UK and for the 90kWh version in Germany, prices are from €46,007 (£38,477). Prices include VAT.
