Rivian makes its Amazon delivery van available to order for everyone

Rivian has long been a partner of Amazon and currently manufacturers the EDV on an exclusive contract basis for the online shopping giant. Amazon originally invested $700 million into the EV company back in February 2019 and this spawned the development and eventual production of the Electric Delivery Van or EDV.

However, now that the four year exclusive contract with Amazon has come to an end, Rivian is now making the van available for anyone to purchase, in the US.

There is going to be two versions of the Electric Commercial Van or ECV - with the exact same battery specifications and charging speeds, with the only difference being the size.

The smallest is the 500 and is 6,311 mm in length, 2,449 mm wide, 2,914 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 4000 mm.

The larger 700 model is 7,061 mm in length, 2,629 mm wide, 2,917 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 4,750 mm.

Both versions of the ECV have a 100kWh LFP battery pack and are front wheel drive only. The motor has 320hp and 405 Nm of torque. Range is quoted using the EPA standard and is 161 miles for the 500 and 160 miles for the 700.

Charging speed is impressive, up to 100kW DC and 11kW AC and uses the CCS Type 1 standard, rather than NACS.

Starting price is at $79,990 and first customer deliveries will be starting in April 2025.
