Microsoft unveils iMac rival – the Surface Studio

Earlier today at it’s Windows 10 Creator Event Microsoft showed off it’s new iMac rival, a huge all in one edge to edge Windows PC running Windows 10. The new Surface Studio is a 28-inch touchscreen with PixelSense technology.

The new device is perfect timing as Apple has an event for the 27th October and is expected to unveil new MacBooks and possibly new iMacs.

What is the Surface Studio?

The Surface Studio is Microsoft’s first desktop computer that is manufactured in house, it also looks like the company is sticking to the Surface brand for new hardware releases, as we already have Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, Surface Hub and now – Surface Studio.

The desktop computer is completely made of aluminium, like the iMac – although it features a large 28-inch touchscreen, which is made of Gorilla Glass. The display has a resolution of 4,500 x 3,000.

What’s under the hood?

Powering the new Surface Studio is the latest Intel chipsets and the Studio comes in these three configurations:

  • Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 965M GPU with 1TB storage ($2,999 / £2,500)
