New Porsche 718 Boxster revealed, out in April

New Porsche 718 Boxster revealed, out in April

This April Porsche is releasing a revised edition of the Boxster using the 718 name at the upcoming Geneva motor show this March, with a 2.0 litre engine and 296bhp. Porsche are opting for a four cylinder engine in this edition, interestingly for the first time since the 968 back in 1995. The Boxster 718 will be replacing the outgoing and current Boxster which is on sale now, in addition Porsche has two other models that will be announced at the same time, the 718 Boxster S and 718 Boxster GTS.

These new models definitely look impressive for certain with new touches around the body work that pull them apart from the old models, little details with the front bumper and bigger cooling vents as well as Ferrari esque intakes located near the wheel arches. The standard 718 Boxster comes standard with a 2.0 litre engine outputting just shy of 300bhp, with 296bhp.

The next model up, the 718 Boxster S has a larger 2.5 litre engine with 345bhp. In the old Boxster S the car used a raspy 3.4 litre engine with six cylinders. Still, with two cylinders less the new car still has 25bhp more. Both cars have the option of a six speed manual gearbox or a seven speed dual clutch automatic offering.

The 718 Boxster starts at £41,739, the Boxster S is £50,685 and are all available this April. The third model is a 718 Boxster GTS which is due next year.
