New Volkswagen e-up! gets 20,000 orders in the first three months

Volkswagen recently refreshed the up! city car line, this included the relaunch of the critically acclaimed up! GTI as well as the new e-up! which is now in its second generation. The 2020 e-up! went on sale in February this year.

The 2020 e-up! went up for pre-orders back in November last year and officially went on sale in February. Volkswagen has revealed some sales figures for car, in the first three months of 2020 there has been 20,000 sales of the e-up! in Europe which works out at that every second up! sold, is an electric version.

“already every second order for the up! model series is for the fully electric version, around 20,000 orders have been received.”

Volkswagen

The 2020 e-up! has a much larger battery pack this time around when compared to the first version, with a 36.8kWh battery pack, 162 miles of WLTP range and 0-60mph in 11.9 seconds. The e-up! also boasts CCS fast charging at 40kW and 0-80% can be handled in one hour.

The outgoing e-up! had less than 100 miles of range and cost £24,625. This new version starts at £19,695, if you factor in the £3,500 grant from the government.

Being one of the most expensive versions of the up! range, all the possible options are piled in, with the winter pack, which offers heated front seats, heated mirrors and windscreen. You also get, climate control, automatic wipers and lights.
