Jeep Avenger Electric now £5,000 cheaper in the UK

Up until recently, Stellantis has had a habit of making its electric cars substantially more expensive than the ICE counterparts. However, this trend has slowly been disappearing, especially with the launch of the Vauxhall Frontera recently, which finally has price parity between the combustion and electric models. Case in point is the Jeep Avenger, which was originally launched as an electric only model and priced at a pretty lofty, £34,999.

This new price adjustment now makes the Avenger more competitive with recent launches, such as the Ford Puma Gen-E, which starts at £29,995 in the UK and has similar range figures. It is also £1,801 less than the equally new Mini Aceman.

Moving up the lineup, the mid-range Altitude is now £4,700 cheaper than before at £31,999 and the top-spec Summit is now £4,900 less at £33,999.

Despite the Avenger originally being planned to be electric only, Jeep did launch a petrol version in late 2023. According to the company, UK Jeep dealers were inundated with requests for a petrol Avenger at the time.

Industry wide, car manufacturers who sell cars in the UK need to adhere to the ZEV mandate, which for 2024 is governing that at least 22% of the sales must be zero-emission, which is electric as no other fuel types are realistic. Companies who miss those targets, will face fines of £15,000 per ICE car that is sold over that target, making sure that car manufacturers sell enough EVs. Although set at 22% for 2024, in 2025 this will rise to 28%.

At this current time, the Jeep Avenger is the only EV the company has on sale in the UK.
