Volkswagen discontinued the Up! GTI here in the UK eight months ago due to the way emissions are tested with the new WLTP testing procedure and also the allocation of cars for the UK had already been allocated.
Volkswagen’s baby hot hatch received many highly praised reviews by car magazines such as Top Gear and is loved by owners all over, so as of today Volkswagen has updated the entire Up! range as well as the GTI for 2020. Just looking at the pictures, there doesn’t seem to be much new besides the new logo which Volkswagen is touting.

Whats good news is that the car has retained the same eager turbocharged 1.0-litre engine, with 113bhp.

What’s new with the Up! GTI?
Volkswagen has updated the whole range, with new logos throughout as well as more kit as standard and new safety kit. Active Lane Assist is now standard on all trim levels.
The engine choices have been simplified with only three on offer now, the 60bhp option for the entry level cars, the Black and White editions, the Beats and edition and also the new R-Line model. The GTI gets the same 1.0-litre turbocharged engine and then the upcoming e-up, has an electric motor.
The Up! GTI gets the same Jacara tartan seats, GTI steering wheel, 17-inch Oswald diamond cut wheels, leather gear stick and handbrake, the red ‘Pixels’ dash cover, heated seats, ambient red lighting, cornering lights and much more.
What is different now is the optional panoramic roof is no longer available, neither is the ‘Beats’ six speaker sound system. You can still choose, parking sensors, rear parking camera, automatic lights and windscreen wipers.
The other news is the price of the Up! GTI, when it was launched in January 2018 the car started at £13,750 for the 3 door model with no options, the base price is now £15,885 for the same 3 door model and the 5 door version is now £16,295.
The new VW Up! model range, including the new GTI is available to order from dealers today.
