New VW Golf GTI Clubsport on sale, with 296bhp

This week, Volkswagen has put the new Golf 8 GTI Clubsport on sale and its priced at £37,215, comes with 296bhp, larger brakes and much more. The new car is based on the brand new Golf 8 GTI, which was only launched a few months ago.

The Clubsport version is £4,000 more than the standard GTI and it offers more power, going from 242bhp to 296bhp, as well as ore torque, 22lb ft more. Like all Golf GTIs, this one is front wheel drive and can only be had with a DSG gearbox, which Volkswagen says is “significantly faster” than using a manual. The standard GTI can still be had with either a traditional manual or DSG gearbox.

The increased power, torque and DSG gearbox means the Clubsport can get from 0-60mph in under 6 seconds with a limited top speed of 155mph. Volkswagen has added more powerful brakes too, with larger perforated 18-inch discs.

On the outside of the Clubsport, Volkwagen has made it look more aggressive than the standard GTI, with larger wheels with new designs, black gloss spoiler, oval exhaust pipes and a much larger front spoiler. On the inside, less has changed with the only thing being different seat fabric, in the last Clubsport and TCR models, a new GTI steering wheel was offered.

The new Golf 8 GTI Clubsport is on sale now, priced at £37,215.
