Nintendo announces new Alarm clock, called 'Alarmo'

Earlier this week, Nintendo announced a brand new product, which leading up to the announcement was expected (and more likely hoped) to be the Switch 2. However, in a rather surprising launch, Nintendo unveiled an alarm clock called Alarmo and it plays various sound effects from many Nintendo games, and it'll even track your sleep.

Nintendo will only be making Alarmo available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers for now and it'll go on sale for everyone in January 2025. It costs $99 in the US and £89 in the UK, which considering what it can do doesn't sound like an unreasonable price.

Alarmo can also detect sleep and will only turn off its alarm if you are out of bed. However, it can get somewhat confused if there are two people in the bed. As the Nintendo team explains below, you can press the top button to snooze the alarm too.

"Alarmo can't detect a specific person, so if two or more people are sleeping in the same bed within range of the sensor, the alarm may stop when one person gets out of bed, but restart once it detects there is still someone in bed. The alarm will stop completely once everyone is out of bed. There is a button mode, though, which may be handy (literally) for those times when it's more than just you in the bed.

At launch, Alarmo will have 35 different alarms to choose from, coming from five different Nintendo games. These include Super Mario Odyssey, Platoon 3, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and more. Like any modern gadget, Alarmo connects to WiFi and to this end, Nintendo says more alarms will come for free, via software updates.
