Nintendo releases system update, 15.0.0 with quite a few bug fixes

Earlier this week, Nintendo released a brand new system update for the Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED. Nintendo has jumped way ahead from version 14.1.2 all the way up to 15.0.0. Most recent updates for the Switch have been somewhat small, with minor improvements and bug fixes.

Version 15.0.0 isn’t a huge major update like the release number would have you believe, it is instead more of a bug fixes update, with quite a few in the list. For example, Nintendo have reworked some of the core OS files.

Release Notes

– The location of Bluetooth Audio menu within System Settings has moved.
– Screenshots can be taken using the Capture Button while in the Nintendo Switch Online application found on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu. (Note: Video capture is not supported)
– General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience

However, this list isn’t the whole story. @OatmealDome on Twitter, uncovered some more changes:

[Nintendo Switch Firmware 15.0.0] Nintendo appears to have focused on the OS internals for this update.
– Handling for Ethernet adapters was moved to its own dedicated OS module.
– Pro Controller Bluetooth firmware was updated.
– Various error messages were added / changed.
– A pop-up was added for attempting to exceed the max headphone volume while the limiter is on.
– Bad words for Mainland China were updated.
– The time zone database (zoneinfo) was updated to the latest from ICANN.
– Text related to Australian + NZ privacy laws was added.

Version 15.0.0 is out now for all models of the Nintendo Switch, more information can be found on the official support page from Nintendo.
