Polestar announces support for Apple CarPlay

Polestar, the maker of electric vehicles and related to Volvo has recently announced support for Apple CarPlay on its Polestar 2 model. The support will come via a new over-the-air update.

Apple CarPlay adds an iPhone-like experience on the car dashboard, with support for Apple Maps, Apple Music, Siri and third party apps such as Waze.

The Polestar 2 is completely powered by Android Automotive as the base operating system, so CarPlay will be running on top of this. Polestar has said that the update will be rolling out over the air, but the update can be installed at Polestar workshops and dealerships too.

Polestar joins the list of other car manufactures that support CarPlay, such as Ferrari, Volkswagen, BMW and more. There are some car companies such as Tesla, Rivian and Lucid Motors who are yet to add support – or might not at all.
