RØDE launches new third generation Wireless GO microphones

RØDE has recently launched its third generation Wireless GO microphones, which are now more affordable, come in more colours and, have more features. The new Wireless GO (Gen3) as they are officially known as now, come in many more colours, which include the usual black and white, but also yellow, green, blue and pink - plus many more. We also get features trickled down from the more expensive Wireless Pro versions, such as 32-bit float on-board recording and lockable 3.5mm microphone input.

The new third generation models come around three years after the company launched the Wireless GO II, themselves being pretty revolutionary at the time. Other manufacturers in the years since, with the most notable being DJI have released new very competitive options. In response, RØDE launched its new Wireless Micro models not long ago and the Wireless Pro, but the standard models needed some love.

First of all, these new microphones have the same dimensions as the last models, sitting at just 46.5 x 44 x 20mm and 35g for the transmitters and 36g for the receiver. As alluded to earlier, they also come in many more colours, 14 in fact and they are all pretty vibrant. This will no doubt give loads of customisation and personalisation to the way the microphones look in some videos. You might find that some creators purchase a handful of colours, to match various scenarios.

The Wireless GO (Gen3) also borrows the locking 3.5mm TRS connector from the Wireless Pro models. This will no doubt help with accidental unplugging incidents when recording. However, this only applies to people who you use a lavalier microphone.

RØDE has also paid attention to the microphone quality too, which now feature new upgraded capsules and preamps - another place where these match the Wireless Pro models for features. Also, the 2.4GHz wireless transmission system is the same as the previous models, but it now has more range. Jumping from 200m to 260m, which should be handy.

Lastly, these also now feature 32-bit float on-board recording, with capacity for 40 hours of audio.

The new third generation Wireless GO microphones are available for pre-order in the UK, priced at £279. According to the Amazon listing, they will be launched on 15th January 2025.
