Report: Apple Watch Series 3 could be discontinued this year

In a report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he outlined that he believes that the Apple Watch Series 3 could be pulled from sale this year. Apple has been selling the five year old watch since 2017 and despite the more capable Apple Watch SE being launched, the company has kept the older model around.

Kuo has said that the Series 3 could be dropped later this year due to it not being able to cope with the upcoming version of watchOS, which will be watchOS 9 and could be announced as WWDC 2022.

Later this year, Apple is also expected to launch the second generation Apple Watch SE and the Apple Watch Series 8.
