Report: iOS 14 will support devices that can run iOS 13 now

According to a report from The Verifier the upcoming update to iOS, which is due to be announced at WWDC 2020 later this month is expected to be able to run on the same devices which are now running iOS 13.

iOS is due to be announced at WWDC and based on the past eight years, will be released to the public in September alongside the next generation of iPhone. The report from The Verifier is suggesting all the same devices which can run iOS 13 now, will be able to run iOS 14 when it is released later this year. Currently the oldest devices which are supported is the iPhone 6s and the iPhone SE, which share the same chip, the A9. The iPhone 6s was launched in 2015 and shipped with iOS 9.

The Verifer has reported that, based on early versions of iOS 14 code, Apple will be supporting the:

  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone SE second generation
  • iPod touch seventh generation
