Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy Note 7 on August 2nd

The awaited phone of the year from Samsung has a release date set. The Korean company today revealed that the new Galaxy Note 7 will be announced in the next few weeks on August 2nd, in New York. The new phone will be available in the UK again and read on below for all the information on the new and upcoming phone.

Note 7?

The Galaxy Note series is hugely popular now, a trend that started not so long ago in 2011 and now nearly every phone manufacturer is making a large phone, even Apple with the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus. This upcoming phone has been rumoured for months now, supposedly it will have a curved display and an Iris eye scanner. The Note 7 will also be coming back to the UK as with the Note 5 Samsung chose not to sell the Note 5 here.

Also, back in March we’ve already seen new hardware from Samsung this year. At Mobile World Congress in March the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were unveiled but this is the first hardware for the Note line we will see this year.

What will is look like?

As it hasn’t been revealed as of yet but there are a few mock ups floating around online…

What can we expect from the new phone?

So with the Note 7 Samsung is expected to have a much more curved look, similar to the current Galaxy S7. In terms of display quality the Super AMOLED tech will still be used which offer those great inky blacks and vibrant, sharp colours. The display is said to increase in size slightly too, jumping from 5.7-inch to 5.8-inch.

As will all Samsung phones, they have high megapixel sensors which doesn’t always add up to actually equalling a good photo, but still impressive shots have been taken on the current S7 range. In a report from Weibo the new Note 7 will have a 12MP shooter and infrared powered autofocus.

In terms of internals, again Samsung phones are always powered by some impressive hardware. The current Note 5 has a octal-core Exynos processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of memory. It also sports a microSD card slot and a 3000mAh battery. The Note 7 is rumoured to have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor, 6GB RAM – although the 823 can take up to 8GB RAM so we may see more.

When will it be announced?

Stay tuned for August 2nd, A&T Tech will have all the updates as the event happens and all the new info on the Note 7 as it is launched.
