South Korean car company Ssangyong has recently rebranded and launched a new electric vehicle. The new name for the company is KG Mobility and comes from the recent takeover of Ssangyong by the KG Group, a large domestic company in the country.

The new model is called the Torres EVX and is a full electric vehicle. It is based on an existing combustion model and has a pretty large 73.4kWh battery pack with a 150kW motor driving the front wheels. The range is touted to be around 310 miles (500km). This will be the company’s second electric car, following on from the Korando e-Motion.

KG Mobility will offer the Torres EVX in two trim levels, E5 and E7. There aren’t any powertrain differences, just added equipment. Inside, there are two large 12.3-inch screens, presumably running an up to date operating system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Prices in South Korea start at 49.5 million won which is around £30,000 in the UK or €34,000 in the EU. KG Mobility has many more EVs planned, including a pickup truck, compact SUV and standard SUV. KG Mobility is expected to launch the new Torres EVX in Europe and UK later this year, with a launch in Australia beforehand.
