Today, the follow up to the LG G3 launches. Yep, the LG G4. The new LG G4 takes the same form factor as the previous model but one this is different, the whole back is covered in leather, real leather. So the G4 has a large 5.5-inch QHD display with a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The battery is a huge 3000Ah offering and the camera is 16MP, but with a large f/1.8 aperture.

Leather?

So LG, the leather thing? – Samsung has tried this before with the Chromebook 2 as well as the Note 2, but with faux leather. But what LG is doing is usual actual leather. But other finishes are available such as “contoured ceramic” and “hammered metallic” as well as the leather option. It actually doesn’t look too bad and it removes the need for a case – as it is a case sort of.

Camera

The camera was the main focus (yes, pun intended) of the keynote from LG and the company is claiming that the camera on the new phone is getting closer to a professional camera, but hands on reviews will test this. But the camera has a few options and modes. “Basic” and “Normal” were in the G3 but a new “Manual” mode does what it says on the tin, it allows you to adjust the white balance, shutter speed, ISO and other settings. But apart from all the settings and controls is the speed of which the sensor can focus. The rear camera actually uses lasers to aid with the autofocus and the camera can launch and be ready to take a photo in 0.6 seconds.

LG’s new flagship phone is set to be released from April 28 and it will cost around £500.
