Today, along with more updates to how Twitter works – Elon Musk has revealed that Twitter Blue will see a price rise, from $4.99 per month to $8 per month. This is $3 per month more than prior and more features will be coming soon, such as the ability to be verified, which currently has the requirement to be a known person, such as a journalists and celebrities.

Elon Musk has also said that ad-free articles are going away pretty much overnight. Twitter has already ended the Blue ad-free access to news sites, something The Verge and MacRumors participates in and this has been ended as of today. Twitter Blue will also feature priority in replies, mentions, and search. Musk says this is “essential to defeat spam/scam.”

Musk has made many, many changes since he took the company over on Friday last week. CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and policy lead Vijaya Gadde are among the many top Twitter executives have been fired.
