Volvo has announced that it will launch a brand new electric SUV this November, called the EX90. Judging by the name, this new model will be based on the XC90 and be fully electric and will go on sale alongside an upcoming, brand new XC90. The new car is to be revealed this November and go on sale in 2023.

Volvo is aiming to become a fully electric car brand by the year 2030 and to get there, it has a goal to sell 600,000 pure electric cars a year by 2025. Volvo showed off a concept vehicle in 2021 called ‘Concept Recharge’ and the EX90 could be a production version of that car, with a flat grille – doing away with the vertical slats currently found on the XC90.

Volvo already has two pure electric SUVs on sale, with the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, both of which use the existing CMA platform, which was originally intended for the combustion XC40.

Volvo hasn’t revealed any information about the drivetrain, but it could share components with Polestar. Volvo is due to announce the new SUV on 9th November.
