Windows 7 is still running on 100 million PCs

Despite being over 11 years old this year, Windows 7 is still running on 100 million PCs around the world. Almost a year ago, support for Windows 7 ended and since then the German government had to pay Microsoft for extended support as it failed to plan ahead and move to Windows 10.

And in February 2020, it was revealed that the NHS still had a lot of PCs running Windows 7.

News from ZDNet and they have found that Windows 7 is accounting for 20% of PCs still being used. Microsoft has also said that there are 1.5 billion users of Windows worldwide, across all versions of the OS, but finding out exact numbers will always be hard as Microsoft never discloses this information, besides for Windows 10 which hit 1 billion users in March 2020.
