Gold Apple Watches may be kept in safes overnight in Apple Stores

The Apple Watch has been appearing in the news a lot recently, not only that we now know that it will be arriving in April, but now there is a report from Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac that the Apple Watch ‘Edition’ will be kept in safes overnight.

Mark claims that he was told by sources that Apple Retail stores will have specially designed safes to hold the gold version of the wearable as it is made out of 18-karet gold with the safes also having the ability to charge the device each night. He also adds that both demo and inventory watches will be locked up.

Early last week Tim Cook mentioned the Apple Watch in the earnings call and that it will ship in April, but no extra details on the pricing, for now we only know that it will start at $349. The Apple Watch Edition will come in six elegant expressions, with two versions of gold: Yellow and Rose.

Also, Angela Ahrendts who is head of retail and (Formally the CEO of Burberry) has pushed the design changes within the Apple Stores and is looking to differentiate the experience for the watch sales to be more like a high end jewellery store.
