Geely has launched its first car in the UK this evening in London, with the brand new EX5 electric SUV. Geely, which is the parent company behind Lotus, Polestar, Volvo and more - seems to have big plans for this market, as well as the rest of Europe.
Geely was founded back in 1986 and has sold 10M cars so far. As of 2025, 4.2% of the UK car market is made up of Geely brands.
The EX5 is available to order now in the UK, with prices starting at £31,990 for the SE. It then goes up to £33,990 for the Pro and then £36,990 for the top spec Max. Standard equipment includes a 15.4-inch infotainment screen, 360-degree camera system, V2L (vehicle-to-load) and VTV (vehicle-to-vehicle) - plus much more.

The Pro adds larger 19-inch alloy wheels and multi-colour ambient lighting, then the Max adds a 13.2-inch HUD, power tailgate, openable panoramic sunroof and massaging front seats - plus much more.
There is only the one battery available, which is a 60.2kWh LFP unit. The car is built on Geely's GEA platform, which much BYD - uses a cell to body architecture. This approach Geely says is better for safety and structural rigidity. Every version gets a heat-pump fitted as standard and the range is rated at 267 miles, with DC charging maxing out at 160kW.
Lotus, another brand owned by Geely has helped out with the chassis to make the EX5 handle to suit UK and European roads.
While Geely has said the EX5 starts at £31,990 - this isn't exactly true. The company is launching its own Geely EV Grant, which offers a further discount on the price. This discount varies per trim level, but it takes £2,300 off the SE, £3,200 off the Pro and £3,750 off the Max. It is worth mentioning that this grant is completely separate from the UK government EV grant and is simply a discount that Geely is offering.

This means the SE trim with the discount now comes in at just £29,690.
Geely is also making some headlines with its warranty, as all versions get a very competitive 8 year/125,000 mile warranty as well as a 8 year battery warranty and 4 year free roadside assistance with Green Flag - then also, 2 years free maintenance on top.
There's already 25 dealers locations operational in the UK, with a further 25 to open by the end of the year.
To also sweeten the deal for customers moving from petrol and diesel cars, Geely will also take an additional £1,000 off when trading in an eligible car. This deal, however is only valid until 31st December 2025.
