New iPad Air 10.5-inch launched, with Apple Pencil support starting at £479

Today, alongside the new iPad mini 5 Apple also launched a new iPad Air – which is simply called ‘iPad Air’ but not to be confused with the 2013 iPad – iPad Air.

What’s new?

On the spec sheet, the 2019 iPad Air and the iPad mini 5 are very similar inside, both have the Apple A12 Bionic chip from the iPhone XS and XR and both work with the first generation Apple Pencil, with the second generation saved for the latest iPad Pro models.

The new iPad Air gets a bigger screen, with a 10.5-inch Retina Display with support for True Tone.

This new iPad also serves as a replacement, size wise for the last generation iPad Pro 10.5-inch but less expensive – starting at £479.

iPad Air also works with the smart keyboard accessory, as it features the smart connector – much like the iPad Pro 10.5-inch.

Pricing and availability

The new iPad mini is available now on apple.com and it’ll be in Apple Stores and retailers next week.

iPad Air now starts at £479 in the UK and $499 in the US and comes in Silver, Space Grey and the new Gold colour. Only two storage options are available; 64GB and 256GB.
