Volkswagen and Tesco partner up to provide electric charging across the UK

Volkswagen, Tesco and Pod Point are all teaming up to provide more electric car chargers while you’re out shopping. By the end of next year, all three companies are aiming to have 400 Tesco stores populated with convenient charging stations – which will be installed by Point Point. So far, there are 100 stores which have charging stations installed.

The chargers are and will be available across the UK and you just need an app to start charging. There are two types installed, 7kW and 50kW. Volkswagen say the 7kW fast chargers are free to use and then, with the rapid 50kW chargers “you’ll only pay a small fee in line with the going market rate.”

We’re proud to partner with Tesco & Volkswagen to deliver the nations largest retail EV charging network.

The charging bays will be based in Tesco Extra and Superstore car parks throughout the United Kingdom and made up of:

  • 7KW fast chargers – which will be free to use.

  • 50kW rapids which will be priced in line with market rates.

  • 22kW chargers where 50kW rapids are placed.
