Disney now has fifty million Disney+ subscribers

Disney+ launched in the US late last year and here in the UK as well as in Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, France, Switzerland, and India in March this year. Since launching in the US five months ago, the service has gained fifty million subscribers. Some of these numbers could have come from some Verizon users in the US who have received a year free, also some O2 customers here in the UK have six months free with new contracts.

Regardless of O2 and Verizon users getting free access for short period of times, its impressive that Disney has managed to get fifty million customers to sign up in such a short amount of time. The service had over twenty eight million subscribers in early February.

Whats more impressive is Disney had wildly underestimated how many users would sign up, Disney estimated that by the end of 2024 it would get between sixty and nighty million subscribers. The way it is looking, Disney will achieve this very soon.
