Yesterday, Apple changed its homepage around the world to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. The website is now in all black and shows a greyscale image of the Queen from 1952, which was taken by Dorothy Wilding. The homepage is the same now around the world, apart form a few countries such as China.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away yesterday on Thursday 8th September at the age of 96. She died at Balmoral Castle, Scotland. The Queen’s son has immediately succeeded her as the new King of England, King Charles III.
King Charles III issued the following statement yesterday:
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”
