More powerful, MG4 EV XPower announced

Rumours about a new, more powerful MG4 model have been circulating for weeks at this point. Some details were leaked by Bristol Street Motors recently which has the accurate price and other details. The new car is to go on sale this month, priced from £36,495.

The new MG4 EV XPower will be making its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year which will also see the company show off the new EX4 concept car, which will take the MG4 even further.

MG4 XPower Rear

The car has pretty much double the power figures of the MG4 Long Range, with four wheel drive, 429bhp and 443lb ft torque. 0-60mph is handled in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 124mph.

“We’re confident the MG4 XPower will shake-up the market like the MG 4 SE and Trophy, showing that a compact EV can be affordable, practical and a terrific drive.

MG Motor UK commercial director – Guy Pigounakis

For the suspension, MG has made it 25% stiffer than the standard model, with new anti-roll bars as well as spring and damper recalibration. New ventilated disc brakes are 345mm, which has helped the car achieve a smaller stopping distance.

MG4 XPower Interior

MG has yet to officially confirm the range of the MG4 XPower, the leak from Bristol Street Motors had it down at 239 miles, down from 281 miles from the Long Range, which uses a 62kWh battery pack.

The new car will go up for orders later this month, priced from £36,495.
