Honda has revealed the pricing for the upcoming all electric e:Ny1 EV, which is set to be available to order in October this year. The car was revealed recently and is only the company’s second pure EV model, following on from the Honda e. The new e:Ny1 will cost from £44,995 in the UK, which does put it above its rivals, such as the Hyundai Kona Electric, Peugeot e-2008 and BYD Atto 3. However, this is at least following the recent trend in Honda vehicles, which is to just get more and more expensive over time.
The name is an odd choice, it is pronounced “e-en-why-one” and is going to be marketed towards the younger corner of the market, customers that might have gone for the similarly sized HR-V for example. Like the Honda e, the charge port is up front with a nice bright white Honda logo to show off it is an EV.
Like the HR-V on which it is related, the wheelbase is the same, at 2,610mm. The boot space here is actually 10% larger than the HR-V, at 346 litres.
Being an EV, we need to talk charging speeds. The e:Ny1 can only charge at 78kW, which isn’t a lot nowadays but Honda does say that this will be enough to charge up from 10-80% in 45 minutes. It would have been nice to see 100kW at a minimum, especially in a pricey brand new EV.
Inside we get a huge 15.1-inch infotainment display with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. There is also support of the My Honda+ app which will let you schedule charging and remotely set the climate control.
While the e:Ny1 starts at £44,995, there is a pricer model on offer with the Advance, which will see you back £47,195. It does, however get you things such as synthetic leather seats, panoramic sunroof, heated leather steering wheel, upgraded sound system and a powered handsfree tailgate.
Orders for the new e:Ny1 start this October, with the first deliveries taking place in 2024.
