This week, Abarth has released the official price for the upcoming 500e hot hatch. The Abarth 500e is a new sporty, hot hatch version of the Fiat 500 Electric and was officially revealed in November 2022. Most of the specs were announced during the original launch, but apart from the price and the official range. The new Abarth 500e will start from £38,695 for the ‘Scorpionissima’ launch edition, with cheaper options available down the line.

The Abarth 500e is front wheel drive only, with a more powerful motor than the Fiat, now making 153bhp and 235Nm of torque. The standard Fiat 500 Electric makes 116bhp. 0-60mph is handled in 7.0 seconds, compared to the 9.0 seconds in the Fiat. The 0-60mph time is a tad slower than the petrol Abarth 695, but the company has said that raw acceleration wasn’t the ultimate goal with this car, with a focus on actual overtaking performance, for example 12-25mph happens in just 1 second and 25-35mph is also handled in 1.5 seconds, something which takes the 695 2.5 seconds.

Around the exterior of the car are a lot of nice design touches for the ‘Scorpionissima’ launch model. Abarth will only be making 1,949 units of the launch model which is the year that the comply was founded. The most notable change is the large ABARTH letting on the front and back, new Abarth logos with a lightning bolt, as well as retro decals on the side of the car. The mirrors have been finished with grey caps and also the largest wheels ever fitted to an Abarth, at 18-inches.

Inside, Abarth have transformed the cabin, with a lot of Alcantara on the dash, wheel, seats which feature a unique scorpion design. The same infotainment is used and carried over from the Fiat version.

For the powertrain, the same 42kWh battery is used. In the Fiat, this means 199 miles of range but due to the increased performance of the Abarth, the range here is only 155 miles. Charging speeds are up to 85kW, which means 10-80% in around 35 minutes,

Abarth will only be making 1,949 units of the launch model, with 350 of them coming to the UK.
