The New Renault Twingo E-Tech - Specs and Information

Green Renault Twingo Electric

The all-new Renault Twingo, launching as an electric car only, made its U.K. premiere at London Battersea Power Station in February, ahead of order books opening later this year.

As with the Renault 5 launch, Renault is offering an R Pass for £100 that will allow first priority ordering access to the Twingo when it officially launches. You’ll also receive a miniature Twingo and “a unique green Renault key cover, and a dedicated concierge service, with purchasers among the first to receive exclusive updates on the all-electric new model.”

However, to build enthusiasm for the new car Renault has now released information on its website and we bring you the highlights below.

At 3.79 meters in length the Twingo sits in the A segment category. To put it into perspective it’s a similar size to the Kia Picanto, so it’s perfectly suited for city, town and local driving.

The Twingo also features one-pedal driving making the most of that regenerative braking around town and for getting the best efficiency from the car.

But despite its diminutive size, the Twingo packs a huge punch when it comes to technology. Featuring built-in Google it comes with regular updates that adds new features and functionality over-time keeping the car fresh and up-to-date as it ages - a true rarity in a car of this segment.

And thanks to Google, it has an App Store with over 100 available apps, such as Waze, Amazon Music and much more, to download into your cars user interface bringing with it some personalisation suited specifically to the customer.

Customers also get the best mapping featuring self-navigation to suitable chargers en route thanks to its integration into the car, just like its bigger brother, the Renault 5.

There’s even an on-board AI assistant called Reno that can be used with natural voice commands providing instant responses thanks to Chat-GPT AI built in.

But the good news doesn’t end there because the Twingo has class leading cargo space - up to 360 litre in fact - helped by the rear bench sliding forward or backward to either create more boot space or more rear legroom. The front passenger seat also folds completely flat enabling longer items to be carried.

The Twingo is able to drive up to 163 miles on a charge, but if customers do venture out of town, its batteries can charge up from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes at a suitable rapid charger. However, it’s important to note that Renault has chosen less energy dense batteries for its Twingo, but here’s the advantage; rather than opting for all-out range, these LFP (Lithium Iron-Phosphate) batteries actually prefer to be charged to 100% for day-to-day use, so that 163 miles of WLTP range will be available after each home charge, for example.

Renault also boasts 24 advanced driver-assistants systems ensuring that you’re in the safest hands despite the cars small size. The systems include front and rear park assist with hands free parking, occupant safety alerts, rear detection with emergency lane correction, six airbags and adaptive cruise control to name a few.

Renault is targeting a stating price below £20,000 but has yet to announce its official launch date. Expect deliveries to start at the end of this year, or the beginning of 2027.
