Ford has now opened the order books for the all new Ford Ranger, after revealing the car back in November 2021. Oddly, the the Raptor version has already been on sale since May and Ford left the standard car until later on. The new truck can be ordered starting today and is priced from £47,220.

When the Ranger Raptor went on sale back in May, it had a starting price of £57,340. The Raptor was fitted with a V6 for the first time since the first generation model was launchd a few years ago.

With the latest fourth generation Ranger, Ford is working with Volkswagen and the new upcoming Amarok shares a lot with this new pickup. VW and Ford are working together on all commercial vehicles, such as the all electric Transit Custom, which shares a lot with the VW ID Buzz.

The Ranger is on sale now and can be specced with two engines at the moment, a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel four-cylinder with 202bhp and a 3.0-litre V6 diesel which has 237bhp. Later down the line, a four-cylinder 2.3-litre petrol Ecoboost will be available. The two diesel engines can only be had with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and four wheel drive. Later, two manual gearboxes will be available, in either five or six speeds.

Design-wise, on the outside Ford has opted to make the Ranger more American. The front of the truck shares a lot of design elements with the F-150 pickup truck, with pretty identical headlight shapes. For the first time, the all caps RANGER lettering on the rear of the tailgate is stamped into the metal, rather than using a sticker on previous generations.

Inside, the dashboard is more car-like than ever, with much more premium materials. There are features like an electronic parking brake and the latest SYNC4 infotainment operating system, which like the Mustang Mach-E, is in a portrait ordination. The screen can run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes in either a 10-inch or 12-inch size.

Bringing more car features over, is the digital display for the driver, which has a lot of customisable views.

The new Ford Ranger can be ordered from today priced from £47,220. The first deliveries to customers starting in 2023. More detailed pricing will be revealed later this year.
