Apple announces new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus

Just this week, Apple revealed its new lineup of iPhones for 2023 and 2024. One of the new devices launched was the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. At a surface level, these new models look pretty much the same as the iPhone 14 and for that matter the iPhone 13. However, we have a few new changes. One of the major new changes is the addition of USB-C, marking Apple’s departure of the Lightning port, which it has been using since 2012. The iPhone 15 also now adopts the Dynamic Island that was first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro last year.

The smaller iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch display and the larger iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch display. On the back, it is still glass but it is now frosted, much like how some Pro iPhone models were in the past. We also now have an upgraded 48MP camera, moving away from 12MP on the base models for the first time. Also new is the A16 Bionic chip, first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022.

The iPhone 15 displays are also now capable of producing more light, now at a max HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, vs 1,200 on the iPhone 14 models. Outside, Apple say they can go up to 2,000 nits.

The new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus went up for pre-order on Friday 22nd September, with prices starting at £799 / $799 for the iPhone 15 and £899 / $899 for the iPhone 15 Plus.
